About Awesome Dashboards

Awesome Dashboards is a list of dashboard products: personal dashboards, browser start pages and new tab extensions, self-hosted homelab tools, wall displays and e-ink screens, smart home controls, and the business and developer tools that also go by the name. The list itself lives on GitHub in the usual "awesome list" format, and this website gives every entry its own page, with more room than a single line in a README allows: what a product actually does, what it costs, and where it falls short.

A product goes on the list only if it clears a plain bar. It has to really be a dashboard product, not an article or a tutorial about one. It has to work today: the site loads, the app runs, the repository is not archived. It has to show real activity in roughly the last year, a release, a commit, a changelog entry, or a store listing update, since an abandoned project is worse than no recommendation at all. And it has to be something the maintainers could honestly recommend, weighted toward well-known, well-used products, with room for a newer one that is clearly good. Products that fail any of those get left off, not marked down; this list would rather be short and reliable than long.

Every fact on a product's page is checked directly on that product's own site, its documentation, or its code repository, not taken from a press release or a rewritten description somewhere else. Each page shows the date its facts were last checked, so it is clear at a glance whether a claim is current or due for another look. Screenshots are taken by the maintainers themselves and carry the date they were captured. Prices are rechecked right before a page goes live, since a plan or a price is one of the first things a product changes, and pages are revisited and updated as the products they describe change.

The screenshots on this site show third-party products, included for commentary and to help a reader recognize what they are looking at before they click through. If a product's own team, or anyone else, wants a screenshot changed or removed, opening an issue on GitHub is the way to ask.
