Awesome Dashboards privacy

What Awesome Dashboards collects about visitors, how Google Analytics is loaded on production, and how to opt out from your browser.

What is collected

The only visitor data this site collects comes from Google Analytics 4, running under measurement ID G-971XYPFDN6. Google Analytics records page activity without names or email addresses: which pages were viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how long a session lasted. To tell one visit from another it sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_971XYPFDN6. Nothing on the site asks for a name, an email address or a login, because the site has no accounts, forms, comments or newsletter to attach any of that to.

How Google Analytics is loaded

The analytics script does not run with the page. It waits for a sign that someone is actually reading before it loads. Five things trigger it: a scroll, a key press, a tap, a mouse movement, or five seconds elapsing without any of those. Local and development builds do not load Google Analytics at all; the script is on production pages only.

How to opt out

Opting out works per browser. Open the browser's developer console on any page of the site and run:

localStorage.setItem("no_track", "1")

Once that key is set, every future page view in that browser skips the analytics loader entirely; the script never loads, and nothing is sent to Google. Clearing the opt-out is the reverse:

localStorage.removeItem("no_track")

The flag lives in that browser's own storage, so each browser and each device has to be opted out on its own.

What else the page loads

Google's analytics hosts are the only outside addresses a page on this site contacts. The HTML, CSS, images, fonts and client scripts all come from the site itself, which is hosted on GitHub Pages. There is no third-party CDN, no embedded video player, no comment widget, no newsletter form, since the site has none of those features in the first place.
