Weather widgets

A weather widget is a small live tile showing current conditions or a short forecast, usually built into a bigger dashboard or new tab page rather than sold on its own. Some products stop at a single temperature reading. Others split the same general idea into several dedicated tiles, current conditions, a multi-day forecast, air quality, sunrise and sunset, moon phase, so you place only the ones you actually check.

The real difference between products is how the data gets there. Bonjourr reads your location by IP address with no permission prompt and no account. MagicMirror's weather module supports around a dozen providers, and about half of them ask for your own API key from that provider before the tile shows anything. DAKboard goes further, with separate integrations for Weatherbit, Apple Weather, OpenWeatherMap and a personal weather station, plus weather alerts, an air quality tile and ocean tide charts, though its free plan unlocks weather itself and holds the rest back for a paid tier.

Choosing one comes down to two questions: does it need an account or a key you have to go request yourself, and does it split out the specific reading you actually want, air quality or moon phase, rather than burying it inside one generic forecast tile.

Sponsored by DashSuey, made by the people who maintain this list. Its Weather & sky group covers current conditions, a forecast, air quality, sunrise and sunset, and moon phase as five separate widgets, each reading live with no key to set up, a pairing of dedicated moon phase and sunrise widgets most competitors skip.
