Browser-specific start page guides

Setting a browser's start page or new tab page works differently browser to browser, so a single generic guide often skips the exact step that trips someone up on Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox specifically. Chrome and Edge, both built on Chromium, install extensions from the same store format and usually prompt directly to keep a new extension as the new tab page. Firefox uses its own Add-ons store and its own permission model, and does not always carry every feature a Chrome build of the same extension ships with. Safari is the outlier: it installs extensions through the Mac App Store rather than a web store, and that support can lapse. Bonjourr's own Safari app left the App Store in May 2026, so on Safari it now runs only as a homepage you set by hand.

Products like Momentum, Bonjourr, Infinity New Tab, Anori and Awesome New Tab Page publish a separate listing for each browser they support, and not every product reaches every browser: Awesome New Tab Page is Chrome only, and Infinity New Tab has no Firefox listing. Where a product is on several browsers, the feature set is not always identical across every listing.

Before installing, check that the extension is still actually listed for your specific browser, not just named on the product's homepage, and expect to set it up again separately on a phone, since most of these are desktop browser extensions with no mobile equivalent.

Questions people ask

How do I find my current homepage or start page setting?

Open your browser's settings menu and look for a section usually called Home page, On startup or New tab page. Each browser names it slightly differently, but all four major browsers keep this setting in the main settings screen rather than buried in a submenu.

Does the same start page extension work the same way on every browser?

Not always. Install steps, permissions and even long-term availability differ by browser. Bonjourr's own Safari app left the App Store in May 2026, so on Safari it now runs only as a homepage you set by hand. That is a real example of support lapsing on one browser, so it is worth checking a product's current status per browser rather than assuming parity.
